Lighting Master Electrician

Event Tech, a high-end special events production company in business for over 25 years, is in search of a qualified Lighting Technician – Master Electrician with Vectorworks skills.  Event Tech has built its reputation as a full service supplier with an extensive inventory of the newest technology in audio, lighting, staging, temporary power solutions, and video production equipment.  We have had the opportunity to serve clients in concerts, conventions, industrial, collegiate, theater, and inspirational productions of all sizes in many locations.

Candidate’s minimum responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate industry standard lighting consoles such as MA Lighting, Hog, Avolites, ETC, and Leprecon

  • Use Vectorworks to create and modify lighting plots and site diagrams

  • Operational knowledge of conventional PAR and ellipsoidal fixtures, moving lights, dimmer racks, and other accessories

  • Assemble, rig, and understand the proper loading of  truss systems

  • Thorough understanding of DMX and other control protocols

  • Should be able to design basic lighting systems using colors, angles, positions, etc. in communication with clients

  • Read and interpret lighting plots, site diagrams, location maps, etc.

  • Ability to manage crew including in-house, freelance, and union labor

  • Act as crew chief for Event Tech on show sites

  • Ability to take direction from a client, technical director, or producer and work as part of a team in a production situation

  • Must possess technical, problem solving, and communication skills necessary in a dynamic, high pressure show environment

  • Understand and troubleshoot single and three phase A/C power distribution systems, (shore power and generator)

  • Operate and troubleshoot single and three phase hoist systems

  • Operate personnel and equipment lifts such as Genie AWP-30 and ST-25

  • Understand and troubleshoot single and three phase A/C power distribution systems, (shore power and generator)

  • Operate and troubleshoot single and three phase hoist systems

  • Operate personnel and equipment lifts such as Genie AWP-30 and ST-25

  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and fabricate DMX, Socapex, stage pin, Edison, Camlok and other cable and connector types

  • Work at elevated levels of 5 feet or higher using man lifts, ladders or catwalks

  • Operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles up to 26 foot non-CDL box truck.

  • Work effectively in other disciplines, including staging, audio, video, rigging, carpentry, metal fabrication, etc.

  • Travel (including overnight stays) when required

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Ability to produce and maintain a clean and valid driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards

  • Lift a minimum of 75 pounds consistently

  • Must be able to obtain a DOT medical card and a forklift operator certification

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing

  • Basic Windows computer skills including Microsoft Office; more specific skills with IntelliEvent Express will be necessary; training provided

  • Due to the nature of this position, you must be able to work nights and weekends on short notice

  • Drug and Background tests performed
